Homestead lost against Northwestern back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Homestead Broncos took a 54-38 bruising from the Northwestern Bulls. The Broncos' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Homestead saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alissa Brown went 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points along with eight boards and seven steals. Brown is becoming a predictor of Homestead's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 6-1 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Caitylyn Gibson, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Leading Northwestern to victory were Myah Newton and Tayana Dixon. Newton dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Dixon dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Newton is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Terriyah Montgomery was another key player, putting up ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Homestead's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Northwestern, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Homestead will face off against Goleman at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Goleman's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so Homestead's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Northwestern, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-13 victory against Central on the 10th.
