Soccer Game Preview: Fultondale vs. Holt

The Fultondale Wildcats will face off against the Holt Ironmen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Fultondale's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Holt has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Fultondale was handed a three-goal defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand American Christian Academy a 1-0 shutout. Fultondale wouldn't have won without Jonathan Castro, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Holt fell victim to Westminster School at Oak Mountain and their airtight defense on Monday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 25-0. While losing is never fun, Holt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Westminster School at Oak Mountain are ranked 25th).

Fultondale has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those six matchups. As for Holt, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12-1.

Fultondale took their win against Holt in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 4-1 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Ironmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
