Softball Recap: Armijo's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Armijo won the last time they faced Fairfield and things went their way on Friday too. The Royals were the clear victors by a 17-11 margin over the Falcons. The victory was familiar territory for the Royals, who have now won eight matchups in a row.

Brooklyn Talbot made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 5-for-6. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.1 hits per game.

In other batting news, Tiana Alcorn was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Spears, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Armijo lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Armijo's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Fairfield, they moved to 6-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Armijo will host Johnson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fairfield, they will welcome Foothill at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.23 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
