Preview: Harpursville Hornets vs. Deposit-Hancock
Harpursville is on a three-game streak of home losses, Deposit-Hancock a 16-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Harpursville Hornets will take on Deposit-Hancock at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
While Harpursville couldn't quite beat Franklin Central on Monday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 46-point loss they were dealt back in January. Harpursville fell just short of Franklin Central by a score of 36-34.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 84-25, which was the final score in Deposit-Hancock's tilt against Sidney last Friday. While losing is never fun, Deposit-Hancock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while Sidney is ranked 185th).
Harpursville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Deposit-Hancock, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.
Harpursville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Deposit-Hancock in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 44-39 victory. Does Harpursville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Deposit-Hancock turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
