Basketball Recap: Buckhannon-Upshur's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

With a playoff win on the line, Buckhannon-Upshur rose to the challenge on Friday. They secured a 49-45 W over the John Marshall Monarchs. For the Buccaneers, this counts as revenge for the 51-47 win the Monarchs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2018.

Jerin Westfall was his usual excellent self, going 12-for-17 en route to 29 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Mcdaniels, who posted nine points along with eight boards and seven assists.

Buckhannon-Upshur was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They are 13-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

The victory was the third in a row for Buckhannon-Upshur, bringing their record for this year to 14-9. As for John Marshall, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.

Coming up, Buckhannon-Upshur will square off against University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Buckhannon-Upshur surely won't give up without a fight. John Marshall does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
