Softball Recap: Northeast Drops Season-High Score on Hollins

Northeast scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 20-17 to the Hollins Royals. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Ava Twinam made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, five runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Makayla Simon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Northeast now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Hollins, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Northeast will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Hollins also won't see the field for a while: their next match is against Clearwater Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on March 24th.
