Baseball Game Preview: Portland Bulldogs vs. Noble Knights

The Portland Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Noble Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Portland is looking for their season's first victory.

Portland lost 12-1 to Sanford on Monday.

Portland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Jordan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Jordan has brought in this season.

Meanwhile, Noble hadn't done well against Cheverus recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Stags 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Carl Gregoire made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Noble is 2-1 when Gregoire allows two or fewer earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Gregoire was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

The win got Noble back to even at 3-3. As for Portland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Portland beat Noble 7-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
