League recap: Carver extends winning streak with victory over Peach County

AAA Region 2 recap November 5, 2013

Carver extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 2 this week by beating Peach County, 44-9. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

The Trojans lost to Carver 44-9 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mictavius Gibson was a bright spot for Peach County, as he caught 6 passes for 68 yards in the loss.

Jackson's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. De'Eric Bell threw for 133 and 2 touchdowns and Rontavious Miller had 186 yards receiving. On the ground Ira Sheppard chipped in 73 yards. Shaderious Crowder helped Jackson's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 31 yards.

The Red Devils' dynamic duo of Bell and Miller proved to be unstoppable against Central, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Crowder helped Jackson's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 31 yards.

Chad Campbell's team's Greg Williams and Tyler Gibson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 1,792 yards this season, while Gibson has 41 catches for 841 yards. Jackson's Bell leads the league in rushing yards with 902.

Dary Myricks' team's Bell needs only 98 yards against Joe Kegler's team next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Bell has rushed for 902 yards on 149 carries so far this year.

Two highly praised recruits will be in the spotlight when the Red Devils and the Tigers meet this week. Jackson features well-regarded sophomore Michail Carter while Carver has Jawon Pass, a sought after sophomore.

At the moment, the Red Devils are in fifth, while the Tigers are in first.

There should be lots of points scored when the Trojans and Southwest face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Peach County comes in having scored 271 this season, while the Patriots have scored 82. The Trojans scored 9 points last week as they fell to Carver.

The Tigers made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,688 from 2,239. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 44-9 victory over Peach County last week.
