Softball Game Preview: Pearsall Mavericks vs. Pleasanton Eagles

Pearsall has gone 9-1 against Pleasanton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Pearsall is taking a road trip to square off against Pleasanton at 7:00 p.m. Pearsall will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Pearsall is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Carrizo Springs 16-0 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Pearsall got a massive performance out of Jesslyn Gutierrez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Gutierrez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirsten Morales, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Pearsall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Pleasanton fell victim to Somerset and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Pearsall's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8-1.

Pearsall came out on top in a nail-biter against Pleasanton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 14-12. Will Pearsall repeat their success, or does Pleasanton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
