Baseball Recap: Brandon Comes Up Short

Brandon extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-8. They lost 12-0 to the Goodrich Martians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Martians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in April.

As for Goodrich, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by nine runs or more this season.

For Goodrich's part, the team relied heavily on Scott Pethers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Pethers is becoming a predictor of the Martians' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6-1 when he doesn't). Kash Bohlen was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Brandon will challenge Owosso at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Blackhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Goodrich, they will take on Madison at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
