Basketball Recap: Hillsboro Comes Up Short

Hillsboro lost to Potosi back in December of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hawks were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 77-76 to the Trojans. The Hawks were up 60-45 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Hillsboro lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Karson Campbell, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten boards. Hillsboro is 4-1 when Campbell posts 15 or more points, but 9-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan Poyner, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 20 points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Hillsboro's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-12. As for Potosi, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5.

Coming up, Hillsboro will host Oakville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.46 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Potosi has already played their next contest (against Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
