Softball Recap: Kankakee Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matches, Kankakee finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They came up short against the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers, falling 15-0. The Kays haven't had much luck with the Hilltoppers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Kankakee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Landis, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple was Landis' first of the season.

Kankakee's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Joliet Catholic, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kankakee will square off against Thornwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.4 runs per game on average), something the Kays will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Joliet Catholic, they will face off against Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
