Football Recap: Independence Piles Up the Points Against Beachwood

Independence's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They breezed past the Beachwood Bison to the tune of 37-0. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Bison: they've now won three in a row.

Sam Bernhardt was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 76 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 77 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Independence was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 67.7 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 226.3.

Independence didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Alex Waski, Bernhardt, and Maverick Durden picked up one apiece.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Beachwood, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Independence will take on Trinity at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Beachwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
