Basketball Game Preview: Greene Central Rams vs. Washington Pam Pack

Greene Central and Washington are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Greene Central Rams will venture away from home to face off against the Washington Pam Pack at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Greene Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 70-61 win over Ayden - Grifton on Friday. While the Rams didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Greene Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dontrez Evans led the charge by going 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Evans has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Cetnar, who posted ten points along with five boards and three steals.

Greene Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Washington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They skirted past Northwood 68-66. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pam Pack as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Washington pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.8 points per game. As for Greene Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Greene Central came up short against Washington in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 68-60. Can Greene Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
