Basketball Recap: North Mesquite Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

North Mesquite was the 50-29 winner over West Mesquite when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The North Mesquite Stallions fell 57-47 to the West Mesquite Wranglers on Friday.

Despite the loss, North Mesquite saw an underclassman step up: freshman Syniyah Grigsby went 11 of 20 on her way to 27 points. Grigsby is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Grigsby, who posted six points and ten rebounds.

North Mesquite's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-15. As for West Mesquite, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.

The future could be bright for both North Mesquite and West Mesquite: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. North Mesquite will try to hand Spruce their fifth-straight loss when the two meet at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, West Mesquite will look to extend Samuell's 13-game losing streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
