Baseball Recap: Woonsocket's Undefeated Season over After 13 Games

Woonsocket has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.69 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell 11-6 to the Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights. The loss was the Villa Novans' first of the season.

Cesar Vazquez Jr. was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Braylon Guilbeault made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Joseph Greenless was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Woonsocket fell to 12-1. As for Exeter-West Greenwich, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3.
