Basketball Game Preview: Highland Park Scots vs. Lone Star Rangers

Highland Park has gone a perfect 3-0 against Lone Star recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Highland Park Scots will face off against the Lone Star Rangers at 7:15 p.m. Highland Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Lone Star likes a good challenge.

Highland Park took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 78-27 victory over Creekview. The Scots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Lone Star made off with a 64-63 win over Newman Smith. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Trojans are ranked 798th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lone Star is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points over those games. As for Highland Park, they pushed their record up to 25-6 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home.

Highland Park didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lone Star when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 58-54 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland Park since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
