Softball Game Preview: Kingswood Oxford Wyverns vs. Williston Northampton Wildcats

The Kingswood Oxford Wyverns will head out on the road to square off against the Williston Northampton Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kingswood Oxford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Williston Northampton will be up against a hot Kingswood Oxford squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Wyverns blew past Miss Porter's 14-2 on Wednesday. The Wyverns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Alexis Nisyrios ?27 made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Raccio ?28, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Reminisce Rosado ?28, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Kingswood Oxford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Williston Northampton didn't have quite enough to beat Loomis Chaffee School on Wednesday and fell 3-1. The loss put an end to the Wildcats' undefeated start to the season.

Kingswood Oxford's record is now 7-2. As for Williston Northampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.

Kingswood Oxford skirted past Williston Northampton 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wyverns since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
