Softball Recap: Sullivan Gets the Win

Sullivan had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Cloverdale on Tuesday. The Golden Arrows never let the Clovers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Arrows in their matchups with the Clovers: they've now won five in a row.

Delaney Gambill tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jaylynn Hobbs was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Rachel Eslinger was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Sullivan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 10-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Sullivan's record is now 14-6. As for Cloverdale, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sullivan will host Bloomfield at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Cloverdale, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Edgewood at 5:30 p.m. The Clovers will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
