Baseball Recap: Century Triumphs

Century posted their closest win since May 2, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the North Eugene Highlanders 4-2.

Damien Elizarraras and Lucas Gardner did most of the damage at the plate: Elizarraras scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Gardner scored a run while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Gardner a new career-high. Jordan Farness also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Century's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for North Eugene, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Century will square off against Sherwood at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bowmen have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for North Eugene, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crater at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Highlanders their first taste of in-conference action this season.
