Basketball Recap: Hammond Comes Up Short

After flying high against Reservoir last Friday, Hammond came back down to earth. The Hammond Golden Bears were outmatched by the Wilde Lake Wildecats and fell 96-68. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Golden Bears have suffered since January 13th.

It was another big night for Devin Wingfield, who went 9-for-15 to rack up 25 points along with seven assists and five boards for Wilde Lake. Wingfield is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last three games he's played. Dre Hoskins was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Hammond's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Wilde Lake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Hammond has already played their next contest, an 81-77 win against Mt. Hebron on the 20th. As for Wilde Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-60 victory against Urbana on the 21st.
