Recap: Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans vs. Averill Park Warriors
It was a good run, but the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 28-14 fall against Averill Park. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake lost against Averill Park in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 42-21 score last time.
Jacob Phelps was a one-man wrecking crew for Averill Park as he rushed for 235 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Averill Park, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Averill Park will face off against Niskayuna at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Niskayuna knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Averill Park likes a good challenge.
