League recap: First place up for grabs as Christian Brothers Academy and Troy jockey for top spot

Section 2 Big Ten league recap: 5/7/12

This could be a critical week for Christian Brothers Academy, which holds a -0.50-game lead over Troy for the league's top spot in the standings.

LaSalle Institute made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from eighth to fifth place in the league thanks to a 2-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Catholic Central fell hardest in the standings, dropping from fifth all the way to eighth place after going 0-2 in the past week. the Brothers (7-3, 5-1) are the No. 1 team in the league.

Amsterdam's pitchers were the toughest in the league on opposing hitters this week, giving up only nine hits. Amsterdam has surrendered a mere 65 this season.
