Volleyball Recap: Ankeny Centennial's Run of Nine Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Ankeny Centennial unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northwest Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-2 defeat last Tuesday.

Ankeny Centennial's offense was headlined by Tatem Schmidt and Mady Ott, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Maegan Cheeseman and her six assists. Finally, Sidney Rogers kept Ankeny Centennial's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Ankeny Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Northwest, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Ankeny Centennial will take on rival Dowling Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Northwest is set to face off against their familiar foe Southeast Polk at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
