Soccer Game Preview: Murphysboro vs. Carterville

The Murphysboro Red Devils will square off against the Carterville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Murphysboro comes in on four and Carterville on three.

Last Tuesday, Murphysboro got the win against Pinckneyville by a conclusive 7-1.

Meanwhile, Carterville kept a clean sheet against Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Wildcats.

Carterville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three contests. As for Murphysboro, their win bumped their record up to 4-2-1.

Everything went Murphysboro's way against Carterville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Murphysboro made off with a 4-0 victory. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
