Softball Recap: King Takes a Loss

King had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-11 to make it four. They lost 17-7 to the Alice Coyotes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

As for Alice, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

For Alice's part, Alexa Godines was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Godines a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Flores, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. King will square off against rival Gregory-Portland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Alice is set to challenge their familiar foe Corpus Christi Moody at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
