Flag Football Recap: St. Mary's Comes Up Short Despite Flora Carter's Big Defensive Game

Thursday just wasn't the day for St. Mary's offense. They took a 7-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastmark Firebirds on Thursday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Firebirds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

St. Mary's didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Flora Carter, Kimber Milstead, and Ava Gonzalez picked up one apiece.

St. Mary's is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.7 points on average this season. As for Eastmark, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

St. Mary's has already played their next matchup, a 47-0 loss against Xavier College Prep on the 2nd. As for Eastmark, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dysart at 6:00 p.m. on the 9th.
