Volleyball Recap: Frontier Takes a Loss

Frontier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Riverton Parke Panthers.

Maella Newcom paced Frontier's offense, picking up five kills. Newcom got some help from Annabelle Layton and her 13 assists. Newcom also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Javeylle Gibbs, racking up two apiece.

Riverton Parke got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Melvin out in front who had 18 assists and six digs. Melvin has been hot, having posted 18 or more assists the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Milynn Organn, who had four digs and four aces.

Frontier's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Riverton Parke, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Frontier didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Clinton Central on the 13th. As for Riverton Parke, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Pioneer on the 13th.
