Volleyball Recap: Mackenzie Means' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Spring Valley over Doral Academy Red Rock

Spring Valley lost against Doral Academy Red Rock back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Grizzlies fell 3-1 to the Dragons. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Doral Academy Red Rock scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-17, 25-22.

Spring Valley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mackenzie Means, who had eight digs and two aces. Means has been hot recently, having also posted 13 or more assists the last three times she's played. Simone Miller also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Doral Academy Red Rock can attribute much of their success to Jayda Peckham, who had five digs, four aces, and one block.

Spring Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.

Spring Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Amplus Academy on the 8th. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Sierra Vista on the 8th.
