Softball Recap: Bishop Watterson Sets Scoring Season-High Against St. Francis Desales

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Watterson). They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the St. Francis DeSales Stallions on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won nine in a row.

Kaitlyn Scholl was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bishop Watterson got a massive performance out of Grace Mayhan, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Mayhan has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Emswiler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.

Bishop Watterson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bishop Watterson's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for St. Francis DeSales, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Watterson will host Bloom-Carroll at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Francis DeSales, they will face off against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
