Volleyball Recap: Sutherland Comes Up Short

Sutherland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Southern Valley Eagles. If the Sailors were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-14.

Eliana Dyer paced Sutherland's offense, picking up five kills. Dyer got some help from Drew Rotert and her 12 assists. Keeley Dempcy controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Southern Valley found their leader in sophomore Emercen Lovitt, who had 13 assists and eight digs.

Sutherland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Southern Valley, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

Sutherland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Perkins County on the 13th. As for Southern Valley, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Southwest on the 11th.
