Baseball Game Preview: Waterford Wildcats vs. Stone Ridge Christian Knights

For the second straight game, Waterford will face off against Stone Ridge Christian. The Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Waterford is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Stone Ridge Christian by a score of 12-7 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Bryan Martinez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Salvador Figueroa and Xaiver Mata did most of the damage at the plate: Figueroa scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his seven plate appearances, while Mata scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Figueroa a new career-high.

Stone Ridge Christian is on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12. As for Waterford, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
