Softball Game Preview: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Lakewood Park Christian Panthers

The Southern Wells Raiders will square off against the Lakewood Park Christian Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Southern Wells will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Saturday, Southern Wells made easy work of Liberty Christian and carried off a 14-2 victory. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Southern Wells got a big performance out of Jailynn Chase, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Chase a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillia Paxson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Southern Wells kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Lakewood Park Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Lakeland, falling 15-2.

Lakewood Park Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Southern Wells, their victory bumped their record up to 4-19.

Southern Wells was able to grind out a solid win over Lakewood Park Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 8-3. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
