Volleyball Recap: Hickory Takes a Loss

Hickory came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the First Colonial Patriots, falling 3-0. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-13.

Caroline Carter paced Hickory's offense, picking up eight kills. Carter got some help from Kyla Goode and her 12 assists. Finally, Greta Hausmann kept Hickory's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Hickory's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for First Colonial, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory will take on Lakeland at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for First Colonial, they will challenge Bayside at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
