The Northeast Eagles will square off against the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Archbishop Spalding will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Northeast extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. Everything went the Eagles' way against South River as they made off with a 14-1 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Presley McGinty was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Hayden Flasinski was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Burris, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Northeast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Archbishop Spalding). They never let Catholic get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cavaliers with their most commanding win of the season.
Addy Carlson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Carlson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Archbishop Spalding got a massive performance out of B. Zaccagnino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Codi, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Archbishop Spalding's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Northeast, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northeast hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Archbishop Spalding struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northeast came up short against Archbishop Spalding in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, falling 4-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
