Newberry's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bell Bulldogs, sneaking past 7-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 on April 3rd.

Tristan Layfield was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gracie Mattson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Newberry's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Bell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Newberry will challenge Dixie County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bell, they will face off against Branford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buccaneers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
