Basketball Game Preview: Jurupa Valley Jaguars vs. Vista del Lago Ravens

The Jurupa Valley Jaguars just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Vista del Lago Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Jurupa Valley came up short against Fontana on Monday, falling 70-49. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1051st, while the Steelers are ranked 219th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vista del Lago). They walked away with a 59-47 win over California School for the Deaf-Riverside on Wednesday.

Vista del Lago found their leader in sophomore Ja'Marion Jackson, who went 11 for 25 on his way to 27 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Jackson is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Morris, who posted eight points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Vista del Lago smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Vista del Lago's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Jurupa Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Jurupa Valley strolled past Vista del Lago in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a score of 51-32. Does Jurupa Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vista del Lago turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
