Soccer Game Preview: Temple vs. Rockmart

The Temple Tigers will head out to face off against the Rockmart Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Temple has five straight wins, Rockmart has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Temple's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Haralson County by a score of 2-0. Two seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Rockmart scored the most goals they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Ringgold, falling 7-2. Things were pretty much settled by the half as the Yellowjackets were already down 5-0.

Temple pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matches. As for Rockmart, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Temple took their victory against Rockmart in their previous meeting back in February of 2020 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Temple since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
