Softball Recap: Northview Has No Trouble Against South Knox

Northview barely beat South Knox the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights blew past the Spartans 11-1 on Saturday. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Maggie Krause made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackie Pell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Jenna Thompson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Northview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Northview now has a winning record of 10-9. As for South Knox, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-11 record.

Coming up, Northview will head out to challenge Terre Haute North Vigo at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Knox, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Loogootee at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
