Football Game Preview: Madison Dragons vs. David City Scouts

The Madison Dragons will head out on the road to take on the David City Scouts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Madison comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Madison is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Clarkson/Leigh on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Dragons had to suffer through a 54-24 loss at the hands of the Patriots. The Dragons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-8.

Madison's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bodonn Sweeney, who rushed for 73 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and Izac Zautke, who picked up 51 receiving yards and one score. Sweeney's longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Meanwhile, David City made easy work of Twin River on Friday and carried off a 42-16 victory. Considering the Scouts have won three games by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The win made it two in a row for David City and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 24 points in those games. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Madison was dealt a bruising 67-6 defeat at the hands of David City when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Dragons, Reese Svoboda (who rushed for 186 yards and five touchdowns on only five carries, and also caught one score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
