Preview: Atlantic Coast Stingrays vs. Fletcher Senators
Atlantic Coast is 2-8 against Fletcher since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Atlantic Coast Stingrays will head out on the road to face off against the Fletcher Senators at 6:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Atlantic Coast fell victim to Creekside's stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They suffered a tough 26-0 defeat at the hands of the Knights. Atlantic Coast has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Fletcher's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They and First Coast were almost perfectly matched up, but Fletcher suffered an agonizing 28-27 defeat.
Despite the defeat, Fletcher got a solid performance out of Marcelis Tate, who rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 236 yards and a touchdown. Trevor Bryan also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Fletcher's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Travis Lan and Owen (joker) manuel who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Atlantic Coast now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Fletcher, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Atlantic Coast was dealt a bruising 30-0 loss at the hands of Fletcher in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can Atlantic Coast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
