Basketball Recap: Festus Comes Up Short

Festus lost against Hillsboro back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between the Festus Tigers and the Hillsboro Hawks didn't end well, with the Festus Tigers falling 59-40. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hillsboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cooper Mcgrath led the charge by going 7 of 9 to rack up 19 points. The dominant performance also gave Mcgrath a new career-high in field goal percentage (78%). Another player making a difference was Gunner Sutton, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Festus' defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Hillsboro, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Festus will take on Perryville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Perryville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matches. As for Hillsboro, they will square off against Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
