Softball Recap: Brownsboro Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mabank

Brownsboro barely beat Mabank the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Brownsboro Bears put the hurt on the Mabank Panthers with a sharp 18-7 victory on Tuesday. The Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Emma Cutright was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Arabella Lowrance was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Cutright wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Brownsboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for Brownsboro: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.2.

The win made it two in a row for Brownsboro and bumps their season record up to 6-7-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11 runs. As for Mabank, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Brownsboro and Mabank could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Brownsboro will take on Van at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday down 548 places (616 vs. 68). Meanwhile, Mabank (ranked 712th) will meet Canton (ranked 117th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
