Coronado won the last time they faced Monterey and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Plainsmen.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Coronado who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-18.

Coronado has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Monterey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Coronado will face off against rival Lubbock-Cooper at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Monterey is set to challenge their familiar foe Caprock at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
