Softball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Cochranton's Winning Streak

Cochranton and Wilmington squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Cochranton had to settle for second. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greyhounds. The game marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Jaidin Frayer was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Frayer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

With the defeat, Cochranton broke their 17-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-2. As for Wilmington, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Cochranton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilmington, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-7 loss against Sharpsville on the 23rd.
