Soccer Recap: Brighton Comes Up Short

Despite a strong season so far, Brighton has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Salem Rocks. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Brighton came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Salem are ranked 88th).

Brighton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Salem, they pushed their record up to 6-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Brighton will head out on the road to take on Western at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Salem, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Adams on the 25th.
