Football Recap: Collinsville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mt. Vernon

The third road match was the charm for Collinsville, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They secured a 28-23 W over the Mt. Vernon Rams on Friday. The Kahoks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Collinsville had a senior duo take command as Jace Wilkinson threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns and Loyal Patterson picked up 118 receiving yards and three TDs. Wilkinson's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Collinsville also got a significant boost from Lazarion Steward, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.

The win got Collinsville back to even at 2-2. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Collinsville will welcome Granite City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Kahoks their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Mt. Vernon, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Althoff Catholic at 7:00 p.m. The Rams will be up against the Crusaders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
