Baseball Recap: Leyden's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Leyden lost against Willowbrook back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Leyden fell just short of Willowbrook by a score of 8-7. The loss put an end to the Eagles' undefeated start to the season.

Angel Gutierrez and Jacob Ganir did some serious damage despite the final result: Gutierrez went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Ganir scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Ganir has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sammy Calderon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Leyden fell to 2-1. As for Willowbrook, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Leyden has already played their next contest, a 13-2 loss against Conant on the 26th. As for Willowbrook, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-0 victory against Glenbard South on the 25th.
