The Arcadia Hornets's road trip will continue as they head out to face the West St. John Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Arcadia focused on turnovers this week as the team gave up six on Friday.
Arcadia will head into Friday's match out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 40-8 defeat at the hands of Lincoln Prep. The Hornets were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Even if they lost, Arcadia's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Joseph Salvaterra was the leader with two. He has been hot for a while, having also posted six or more total tackles the last 11 times he's played. Another thorn in Lincoln Prep's side was Tekiyrian Abney, who picked up a sack, forced a fumble, and made eight total tackles.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for West St. John against Centerville on Thursday as the squad secured a 40-6 victory. With the Rams ahead 26-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
It was another big night for Kalon Gardner, who rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 103.2 rushing yards per game.
West St. John didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Chance Bovie and Keimyren Weber. West St. John got some further help from Joradae Grows: he picked up two sacks and made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
West St. John was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 362 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centerville only rushed for 86.
Arcadia's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for West St. John, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
