Baseball Game Preview: Petersburg Vikings vs. Sitka Wolves

For the second straight game, Petersburg will face off against Sitka. The Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Petersburg has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with seven straight defeats, while Sitka will come in with 14 straight victories.

Friday just wasn't the day for Petersburg's offense. They came up short against Sitka on Friday, falling 17-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Sitka's part, Bryce Calhoun was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Sitka pushed their record up to 17-2-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Petersburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Petersburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sitka struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
